He joined  the movement for India’s freedom from British rule and for a duration  (1905-1910), became one of its most important leaders, before turning to  developing his own vision and philosophy of human progress and a  spiritual path which he termed Integral Yoga. He wrote over a hundred  poems, many plays and several books on Vedas, Yoga, etc.<br />
In his famous Uttarpara speech, he proclaimed, “<em>I say no longer  that nationalism is a creed, a religion, a faith;I say that it is the  Santana Dharma which for us is nationalism. This Hindu nation was born  with the Sanatana Dharma, with it it moves and with it it grows. When  the Sanatana Dharma declines, then the nation declines, and if the  Sanatana Dharma were capable of perishing, with the Sanatana Dharma it  would perish.The Sanatana Dharma, that is nationalism. This is the  message that I have to speak to you</em>“.<br />
Of India’s future Sri Aurobindo prophesied : “I<em>ndia of the ages  is not dead nor has She spoken Her last creative word. And that which  She must seek now to awake, is not an anglicized oriental people, docile  pupil of the West and doomed to repeat the cycle of the Occident’s  success and failure, but still the ancient immemorial Shakti recovering  Her deepest self, lifting Her head higher towards the supreme source of  light and strength and turning to discover the complete meaning and  vaster form of Her Dharma</em>“.<br />

Most historians,  British as well as Indian, have described and dismissed the rising of  1857 as a ‘Sepoy Munity’ or at best ‘The Indian Mutiny’. The book,  initially written in Marathi, was penned by Savarkar in response to  celebrations in Britain of the 50th anniversary of the 1857 Indian  uprising with records from India Office archives and the whole project  received support from Indian nationalists in Britain including the likes  of Madame Cama, V.V.S. Iyer and M.P.T. Acharya. </a><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/file/m21zmztnlnz/India%27s%20Past%20-%20AA%20Macdonell.pdf" target="_blank">The book, which describes the 1857 revolt as a unified and national  uprising of India as a nation against British authority, was seen at the  time as highly inflammatory, and the Marathi edition was banned in  British India even before its publication. Its English translation was  ultimately printed in Holland in 1909, with the British government not  tracing it until too late. The copies were printed with false dust  wrappers purporting to be copies of The Pickwick Papers and other  literary classics, and large quantities were shipped to India where it  quickly became a bible of political extremists.</a><br />

</div><strong>Six Glorious Epochs of Indian History</strong> is an English translation of the last work of Veer Savarkar, “Bharatiya Itihasatil Saha Soneri Pane”, which he completed during his illness and old age. This book, is a commentary — not a history in its academic sense — on the significant events and periods in our national life, taking a broad survey of the growth and survival of our Hindu race. In a way this attempt of Savarkar has been singular, barring few honorable exceptions.<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The author wanted to translate this voluminous work into English himself, but he could not do so because of his failing health. After it was translated by S. T. Godbole, every chapter was carefully read and approved by Savarkar himself.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The general trend of the Histories, written, read and taught in schools and colleges have been one of eulogizing the foreigners and deprecating the Hindu race, relying wholly on the biased records of the foreign historians and travelers. Savarkar strongly felt the need to reconstruct and restate Indian history from the national point of view. He says, “<em>When our country was smarting under the British sway, many English writers had so much perverted the Indian history and obliged two or three generation of Indian students in their schools and colleges to learn it in such a way, that not only the rest of the world but even our own people were misled. Absurd and malicious statements implying that India as a nation has always been under some foreign rule or the other or that Indian history is an unbroken chain of defeat after defeat of the Hindus, have been used like currency and are accepted by our people without affront or remonstrance or even a formal protest. To refute these statements is essential not only from the point of view of honor of the nation but also for the sake of historical truth. Efforts being made by other historians in this direction have to be supported, as far as possible, by propaganda. That in itself is a national duty. That is why I have decided here to describe the historical achievements of those generations and of their representative leaders who vanquished the aggressors from time to time and liberated their country</em>.”</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Savarkar saw the panorama of Indian history in the rise and fall of the Hindus. This concept of history moulded his political thinking and career. This book is a biography of Bal Gangadhar Tilak (1856-1920), a  nationalist, teacher, social reformer and independence fighter who was  the first popular leader of the Indian Independence Movement. The  British colonial authorities infamously and derogatorily called the  great leader as “Father of the Indian unrest”. He was also conferred  upon the honorary title of Lokmanya, which literally means “Revered by  the people (as their leader)”. Tilak was one of the first and strongest  advocates of “Swaraj” (self-rule) in Indian consciousness. His famous  quote, “Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it !” is  well-remembered in India even today.<br />
He was a great scholar who authored many books on Gita and Vedas. In  Gita Rahasya, his commentary on Srimad Bhagavad Gita, he established  that Karma Yoga or the Yoga of selfless action is the main teaching of  the Gita.<br />

Manusmriti (Laws of Manu) is one of the most misunderstood and most  heavily criticized Hindu scripture, having been attacked by colonial  scholars, modern liberals, Dalit advocates, feminists and Marxists. <br />
The “Law of Manu” was cited favorably by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, who observed as follows:<br />
“It is with an opposite feeling that I read the law of Manu, an  incomparably spiritual and superior work: even to mention it in the same  breath with the Bible would be a sin against the spirit…….the sun  shines on the whole book. All the things on which Christianity vents its  unfathomable meanness – procreation, for example, woman, marriage—are  here treated seriously, with respect, with love and trust”.<br />
The author, Dr.Surendrakumar, states that out of a total of 2,685  verses, only 1,214 verses are authentic, the other 1,471 being  interpolations on the text. In reply to the criticism of the sudra  caste, the verses critical of the sudras and women are considered by the  author of this booklet to be later interpolations. According to him,  the need of the hour is that the original Manusmriti should be reckoned  as authentic, and the opposition to Manu on the basis of interpolated  slokas should be rebutted because Manu and Manusmriti are worth taking  pride and not something condemnable.<br />

He succeeded to the throne in 1169 CE at the age of 20, and ruled from the twin capitals of Ajmer and Delhi which he received from his maternal grandfather Ballal Sena of the Sena Dynasty in Bengal.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">His love story with Samyukta, the daughter of his enemy, Jaichand,  is very famous. His elopment with Samyukta her on the day of her ‘Swayamwara’ is a popular romantic tale in India, and is one of the subjects of the Prithviraj Raso, an epic poem composed by Chauhan’s court poet and friend, Chand Bardai.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Muhammad Ghori attacked India in 1191 and he was defeated at the first battle of Tarain. After defeating the army of Muhammad Ghori he was asked to attack the retreating army but in true Rajput tradition he refused to do so as it did not conform to the fair war rules. As a result Muhammad Ghori again attacked India and in the second battle of Tarain Prithviraj Chauhan was defeated and captured. He was treated very badly, his eyes were burnt with red-hot irons and he was made blind. But Prithviraj did not lose courage. Helped by his court poet and friend Chand Bardai, he is believed to have killed Muhammad Ghori with his skill of hitting a target just on the basis of a sound produced by it. He displayed this skill during an archery competition organized by Muhammad Ghori. When Muhammad Ghori praised him Prithviraj heard Ghori’s voice and shot an arrow at him. Muhammad Ghori was thus killed. In order to escape death at the hands of enemies he and his friend Chand Bardai stabbed each other.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />

Indian and Pakistani armies still face each  other in the northern province of Kashmir, the site of a standoff now  more than five decades old, and both nations are now nuclear powers. At  the beginning of the 21st century, the fairly new border between the two  nations remains one of the world��s flashpoints<br />
